Ford Mustang out paces Chevrolet Camaro in June

For the second time in as many months the new 5.0L power Mustang has outpaced the Chevrolet Camaro on its way to becoming the best selling sports car in America. The Mustang’s sales numbers increased nearly 18% to 8,974 units, while the Camaro slipped 19% to 7,540.

The Camaro still leads the annual sales race by 6,000 units, but has not one the sales crown for the pony car segment since 1987. Both the Dodge Charger and Challenger posted sales gains of over 125% greater than June of 2009. The Corvette held even at 1,600 units and the Dodge Viper saw a sales increase a customers flock to pick up one of last production models. The sales race is expected to tighten as Chevy releases the 2011 model Camaro.
