National Automotive History Collection picks Camaro as the most Future Collectible Car of 2010

How many times have we wished we had wad of disposable cash back in the mid 1970’s to gobble of all the 1960’s muscle cars that found their way onto used car lots: HEMIs, Shelbys, Vettes, and Camaro’s that your dad’s buddies traded in for a Vega or Pinto and case of Bud.

Well, the National Automotive History Collection try to pick current year models that everyone well wish they had hung onto in 2035. This year’s crystal ball pegs the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro as the most Future Collectible Car of 2010. Continue reading

Consumer Reports: Ford Mustang V6 outperforms Chevrolet Camaro in V6 face-off

The Ford Mustang earned a Very Good road test score and outscored the Chevrolet Camaro which earned a Good score, in a face-off between V6 versions of the two vehicles in Consumer Reports’ October issue.

In last year’s CR face-off between V8 versions of these two iconic cars, the Mustang also outscored the Camaro, despite being an older design. Continue reading

Ford Mustang designer Donald Frey dead at 87

CHICAGO – Legendary engineer and Ford Mustang designer, Donald Frey, died March 5 after suffering a stroke. He was 87. Besides sculpting America’s most famous sports car, Frey helped pioneer the field of consumer electronics.  Developing the CD-Rom and VHS cassette tape industries.

After his time with Ford he when on to become the CEO of Bell & Howell Co., was a board member of 20th Century Fox, and taught at Northwestern University.  For his efforts he received the National Medal of Technology from President George H. W. Bush in 1990.

Frey was chief engineer and an assistant general manager for Ford Motor Company when the Mustang was developed. He reported to Lee Iacocca, who received much of the credit for the Mustang’s success. Continue reading

2010 Camaro Wins Popular Mechanics Awards

GM picked up a coveted Popular Mechanics design award for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. The magazine awarded the Camaro based on its modern interpenetration of the Camaro’s classic Design. “The new Chevrolet Camaro is a fresh, thoroughly modern take on the 1967 original,” says Ben Stewart, Automotive Editor, Popular Mechanics. “While the design pays homage to the past, its big tires and taut proportions perfectly convey 21st –century muscle, and there’s some serious firepower under the hood to back that up.” Continue reading
